Schumacher Packaging: 33 new apprentices
September 1 marked the official start of the new apprenticeship year at Schumacher Packaging Group. Just at the plant in Ebersdorf/Germany, the packaging specialist's headquarters, 15 new apprentices took their first big step into the world of work. This family-managed manufacturer of corrugated and cartonboard packaging solutions is providing 33 new apprenticeship slots across all German sites this year. They cover the following occupations: industrial business management assistant, commercial driver, freight forwarding and logistics management assistant, packaging technologist, print media technologist, industrial mechanic, paper technologist and system integration specialist. Including the newbies, the group says it is currently training 79 young people, of which 38 are at the Ebersdorf plant alone.
Supporting young people
Their good and very good final results keep proving the quality of the renowned group's training - and in-house at Schumacher, people believe in the skills of their journeymen and -women. "We hire almost all of our apprentices on a permanent basis once they are done," reports Bernd Köbler, who manages the apprenticeship program. Besides the 15 new apprentices at the Ebersdorf plant, an additional 18 are starting their training at other Schumacher Packaging sites: one in Sonneberg, 4 in Forchheim, 4 in Bielefeld, and 8 in Schwarzenberg.
Köbler added that this company places great value on supporting these young people as they take their first steps into a new and unknown work environment. "Teamwork, cooperation and communication are important characteristics in today's workplace."
